Bare Esensuals

Preface

I am a man in love with my wife. This collection stemmed from short works that I wrote for her. She thought enough of them that she began showing them to some of her associates who suggested that they should be published.

I hesitated at the prospect of publishing such an intimate collection. Eventually her enthusiasm and encouragement persuaded me that they should be published.

Sex in this age is everywhere. It has become cheap in the very worst sense of the word and while much is made of it far too little is said about the deep commitment and emotional intimacy that transcends the physical and makes it sacred and beautiful.

When we see it then, through the eyes of love it becomes more than just exciting. It becomes ever new and amazing, as unique and profound as the love it celebrates. I sincerely hope that you enjoy Bare Esensuals and share it with the love of your life.

A Poem Asleep

Energy lags ambition gone

The day is spent and TV’s on

Sound and motion blather away

And I don’t hear a word they say

Considering your serene repose

As inspires verse or prose

My finest work at best would be

Clunky cold machinery

Eloquence is crude and unrefined

Compared with beauty God designed

Fascinated by your face

A poem asleep in my embrace.

Love’s Own Beauty

I’ve had my fill of “beauty queens”

Whose looks can cast a spell

Gorgeous little witches

With hearts as black as Hell

What makes a woman beautiful

Goes far beyond her face

To the virtues she espouses

Manners, prudence, grace

It’s the sweetness of her life

The essence of her ways

That makes her body beautiful

In the eyes of one who stays

Perfection doesn’t matter

When love’s alive and real

Love really isn’t blind

It just sees what it feels

And when aroused and made to dance

Love’s rose becomes a flame

Whose fragrance is released

In beauty unashamed
